NET Audio NA200 AmplifierThe NET Audio NA200 Amplifier is in the middle of development. Production boards are now running in a test chassis and the amplifier is an improvement over any NET Audio amplifier that I have yet auditioned. The casework is in the design phase and will be completed if all goes to plan in the next week or two. The lid, bottom and back panel are here, look extremely good. Just awaiting the heat sinks and front panel to be complete. New PSU boards have been designed for the new chassis, they would not fit in the test chassis as they were too large and will be ready to test around the 24th of May. These PSU board have now been tested and are awaiting fitment into the chassis when it is complete. The new transformers are here and look very good, well made quality parts - 450W toroid transformer per channel. Power output 100W per channel into 8 ohms, 180W into 4 ohms, both channels driven. Measured power output is 120W RMS Distortion into 8 Ohms 0.0025% at 100Hz 50W RMS
0.003% at 100Hz 120W RMS - Just below clipping point
0.0027% at 1KHz at 120W RMS Complete dual mono construction from the mains connector onwards. Dual speaker binding posts for bi wiring with de-thump and DC protection circuit on one set of connectors. All aluminium casework to match the NET Audio Sonance. Dimensions 440mm wide, 120mm high, 310mm deep not including the rear connectors. 26/07/07 The casework has arrived and the NA200 will be assembled in its correct housing in the next 24 hours and auditioned bearing in mind it will need extensive burn in before its true sound can be heard. 20/03/08 Due to other projects (Sonance MK3) the NA200 has been delayed. It is now in production on a individual order basis and will take approximately 4 weeks to be delivered from the payment date. 25/01/10 The amp was put on the back burner for a while as i had other projects to deal with. Since then the final NA200 V1.0 boards have been built and tested and will be independently evaluated over the next few weeks. The NA200 is very transparent, very accurate and is fast, agile and detailed. It does require a good source to show of its best as it cannot make good music form a bad signal. Fed with the new NET Audio Sonance MK3 the NA200 is remarkably revealing of the source and produces surprising sound for the price. The NA200/Sonance MK3 pairing reveals nuances and sound not heard before on my collection of CDs. This was the case with the Sonance MK2 and other CD player/amplifier combinations compared to good Hi-Fi but the NA200 and MK3 Sonance is a step further still. Very lifelike imaging and extraordinary separation of instruments and performers and can be listened to for long periods of time without fatigue. The RRP of the NA200 is £2495 and a list of dealers will be published as and when the NA200 is stocked. Orders now been taken direct from NET Audio for the NA200 at £1700 for NET Audio customers who have previously bought 303 or 405 full upgrades and £1900 for non NET Audio customers.
